A sunny but cool day greeted show jumpers for ‘the first time’ to Snai San Siro Racecourse.

There were five classes programmed on the opening day of the 2021 edition of the Milano Jumping Cup where the Italian riders immediately played a starring role with four wins and many other placings.

Bruno Chimirri and his daughter Elisa, favourites on the eve of this show, did not let their supporters down winning one class each in the CSI3*.Riding Concardo, Elisa, who only just turned 18 a month ago (on June 9th) won Class No. 2 Cavallo Magazine, a speed class with jumps measuring 1.30m.

For the young Italian this was a first win in an ‘senior’ international show in which, although she was born in France, she was riding for Italy as she has been doing since last year.

Her father Bruno answered her challenge instantly riding his Italian grey Samara and winning Class no.3 Fondazione Francesca Rava (Two phases – 1.35m).

Then came another great win by veteran rider Roberto Arioldi. The last to enter the arena in  Class no.5 EY, the biggest class of the day (against the clock with jumps at 1.45m) the six time Italian Champion rode Chiclone and proved his everlasting class beating Matteo Checchi on Lacan 2 and Marco Pellegrino riding Venture.

The only foreigner to win on a day that started with a first place for Viola Cuppini riding Elias in Class no.1 iZilove in the CSI1*, was France’s Guy Jonqueres D'Oriola riding Adiamood de l'Abbaye in Class no.4 Safe Riding (against the clock – 1.40m). The best Italian in this class was Paolo Paini who finished third on Konstop.
