Day two of show jumping at the Snai San Siro Racecourse, was marked by two important classes held in the afternoon at Milano Jumping Cup 2021.

Entertainment was guaranteed by the 28 horses and riders competing in Class no. 9 Var Group ‘Small Grand Prix’. This class with jumps up to 1.40m resulted in ten riders qualifying for the jump off.

The class was won by Antonio Maria Garofalo who with his grey Hope van de Horthoeve delivered the fastest second clear round. The rider from the Campania region stopped the clock at 40.97 seconds, only six hundredths of a second faster than Bruno Chimirri riding Tower Mouche (0/0; 41.03).

Italy completed the podium thanks to the current Italian Champion Luca Marziani on Don'T Worry B (0/0; 41.90).
With this win Antonio Maria Garofalo celebrated his birthday in the best of ways having just turned 31 on July 3rd.

Even more exciting was Class No. 10 Infront with no less than 41 combinations competing. The two-phase class with 1.45m jumps  saw continuous changes at the top of the provisional ranking, particularly in the final stages when Roberto Arioldi and Chiclone, winners of yesterday's 'big' class (0; 29.09), was beaten by Marco Pellegrino riding Vick du Croisy. With a second phase time of 27.42 seconds, Pellegrino, 31 years old from Moncalieri, won the class.

The last rider to enter the arena, Switzerland’s Clarissa Crotta, completed a textbook course on Yoghi but could not do better than Pellegrino with Arioldi finishing an excellent third (0; 46.39).

The 'top five' included Argentina’s Matias Larocca on BM Gran Fantasia (0; 30.03) and Germany’s Jörne Sprehe riding Stakki's Jumper (0; 30.04).

The Milano Jumping Cup 2021 held five classes on Saturday, starting in the morning with Class No. 6 CNA in the CSI1* (two phases  - 1.20m) won by Alessia Zufrinali riding Nitrit with Giulio Carpigiani and Athinia finishing second. Giulio Carpignani, a 25-year-old from Modena, got his own back by immediately winning Class no. 7 Fondazione Costruiamo il Futuro (two phases – 1.30 m.) in the CSI3* riding Bucaramanga, with Bruno Chimirri and Samara close behind and therefore ending the day with two second places.

One of the stars of the day was Gianni Govoni who confirmed his reputation as the ‘fastest of the fasters’ winning the 1.35 m Class no. 8 Med Store against the clock in his usual style, hence with an amazing and extremely fast round riding his reliable Lucaine (0; 56.89).
