Bicocchi does it again in the Vargroup Prize
This last day of the Frecciarossa Milano Jumping Cup 2022, held at the San Siro Racecourse, has been a great one for Emilio Bicocchi.
After winning Prize no. 13 presented by Snaipay (accumulator with joker against the clock - h 1.40m) riding Rondine del Terriccio, the 45-year-old Tuscan rider also won the show’s 14th class presented by Vargroup (winning round - h 1.45m) riding the 8-year-old Divina, another horse also bred in Italy.
He was first to go in the decisive round reserved to the best eleven horse and rider combinations in the first round, and finished on 37”30, unbeaten by all his opponents. Second place went to Switzerland’s Barbara Schnieper riding Escoffier with Germany’s Richard Vogel on Looping Luna finishing third.
Anxious but calm to the last, Bicocchi followed his rivals' rounds seated in the stands. Only after Vogel's final 37"86 did he rush to the stables to retrieve his Air Force jacket to be ready for the prize-giving ceremony: "A bit of superstition never hurts" he explained with a big smile. "Divina is a young mare, only eight years old, but she is very competitive and very fast.”
CSI4* - Prize no. 14 presented by Vargroup (winning round - h 1.45m - 26.000 €)
1. Emilio Bicocchi ITA (Divina) 0, 37”30
2. Barbara Schnieper SUI (Escoffier) 0, 37”52
